Apostle Paul starts by outlining for us the characteristics of UNSPIRITUAL persons<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">. I will quote the verse and bullet the different characteristics mentioned in the verse using the Amplified Classic translation of the Holy Scripture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">1Co 3:3<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> (AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> For you are still [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">unspiritual, having the nature<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] of the flesh [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">under the control of ordinary impulses<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">]. For as long as [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">there are<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] envying and jealousy <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> like mere (unchanged) men?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">The church in Corinth was born again but exhibited the nature of unspiritual men. They had fallen from the glorious state from which Christ had exalted them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">Unspiritual men are those having the nature of the flesh or under the control of ordinary impulses. He defines unspiritual men as those who entertain works of the flesh such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 12.0pt; margin-bottom: 12.0pt;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 12pt 0px; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">envying <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 12.0pt; margin-bottom: 12.0pt;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 12pt 0px; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">jealousy <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 12pt 0px; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">wrangling <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 12pt 0px; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">factions among you\u2026 <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">He says anyone who does these things behaves <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">after a human standard<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">like mere (unchanged) men<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">. Christians are changed men\u2014no longer homo sapiens but a new creation, a chosen genos, created in righteousness and true holiness. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">Factions are a mark of un-spirituality. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">Factions have to do with discord or dissension. FACTION is a party or group (as within a government or church) that is often contentious or self-seeking. Faction acts as dissenters that emerge from one big organisation. In Apostle Paul\u2019s day, there were two factions\u2014one siding with Apollos and another with Apostle Paul. Apostle Paul was very unpleased with this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">1Co 3:4-8<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> (AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">4<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> For when one says, I belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos, are you not [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">proving yourselves<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] ordinary (unchanged) men?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">5<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Ministering servants [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">not heads of <strong>parties<\/strong><\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] through whom you believed, even as the Lord appointed to each his task:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">6<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> I planted, Apollos watered, but God [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">all the while<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] was making it grow <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">He<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] gave the increase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">7<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> So neither he who plants is anything nor he who waters, but [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">only<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] God Who makes it grow <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> become greater.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">8<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> He who plants and he who waters are equal (one in aim, of the same importance and esteem), yet each shall receive his own reward (wages), according to his own labor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">Factionalism or factionism is the state or quality of being partisan or self-interested. This is the problem with denominationalism. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">This is how the Dragon tried to introduce divisions into the early church at its infancy. <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">God&#8217;s house is a spiritual house, and none of the early disciples started any denomination.<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\"> Paul fought it stating that he did not die for anyone. Christ did. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">After he passed on though, many denominations and factions sprung up within the church. Factions are divisions and not only do they make new men unspiritual. This unspirituality leads to defeat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">Mar 3:25<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> (AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> And if a house is divided (split into factions and rebelling) against itself, that house <strong>will not be able to last<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">Today, the ekkle\u0304sia globally <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">seems very<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\"> fragmented (full of factions) that it has no one judicial council to try what happens between Christians\u2014such<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\"> as the Jerusalem Council. You have broadly speaking, the Roman Catholic faction and the Protestant faction and under these, there are further fragmentations and factions\/divisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">Within the ekkle\u0304sia in Corinth, some people said <\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">\u201cI belong to Paul, and another, I belong to Apollos.\u201d Paul could have condoned this a developed his own sect but no\u2014he said Christ is not divided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">1Co 1:11-13<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> (AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">11<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> For it has been made clear to me, my brethren, by those of Chloe&#8217;s household, that there are <strong>contentions<\/strong> <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> <strong>wrangling<\/strong> <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> <strong>factions<\/strong> among you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">12<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> What I mean is this, that each one of you [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">either<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] says, I belong to Paul, or I belong to Apollos, or I belong to Cephas (Peter), or I belong to Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">13<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> <strong>Is Christ<\/strong> (the Messiah) <strong>divided into parts<\/strong>? Was Paul crucified on behalf of you? Or were you baptized into the name of Paul?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">It is Christ who died for his ecclesia and so all should belong to Christ. That was Paul\u2019s impetus. Christ alone. He entreated an end to the factions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">1Co 1:10<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> (AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> But I urge <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in perfect harmony <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> full agreement in what you say, and that there be <strong>no dissensions <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">or<\/span><\/em> factions <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">or<\/span><\/em> divisions<\/strong> among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> judgments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; background: white; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif; color: #050505;\">This is one of the reasons God did not allow any of Jesus\u2019 bones to be broken on the cross. His body is not divided but one under God. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">1Co 3:22-23<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> (AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">22<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> Whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas (Peter), or the universe or life or death, or the immediate <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> threatening present or the [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">subsequent and uncertain<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] future&#8211;<strong>all are yours<\/strong>,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; text-align: initial; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">23<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> And you are Christ&#8217;s, and Christ is God&#8217;s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif;\">No need to fight over your leaders. All of them are actually yours from the Lord. And you are Christ\u2019s and Christ belongs to God. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #238554;\">1Co 4:6<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> (AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\"> Now I have applied all this [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">about parties and factions<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] to <strong>myself and Apollos<\/strong> for your sakes, brethren, so that from what I have said of us [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">as illustrations<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">], you may learn [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">to think of men in accordance with Scripture and<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] not to go beyond that which is written, that none of you may be <strong>puffed up<\/strong> <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> <strong>inflated<\/strong> with <strong>pride<\/strong> <em><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\">and<\/span><\/em> <strong>boast<\/strong> in favor of one [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #757575;\">minister and teacher<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 10.0pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: black;\">] against another.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif;\">Paul used himself and Apollos as a teaching tool to show these believers what is not acceptable in God\u2019s house. Factions are built upon and promote:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 12.0pt; margin-bottom: 12.0pt;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 12pt 0px; line-height: 135%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif;\">people being puffed up and <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 12pt 0px; line-height: 135%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif;\">inflated with pride and <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm 12pt 0px; line-height: 135%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif;\">boast in favor of one [minister and teacher] against another<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 12pt 0cm; line-height: 135%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Light', sans-serif;\">This is unchristlike.
