I read this in the book of Revelation, but how do you explain this?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">Let us consider the following statements: Lord Jesus is seated at the\u00a0<strong>right hand<\/strong>\u00a0of God as\u00a0<strong>the Head<\/strong>\u00a0of all rule and authority of every principality and power. Lazarus, once a pauper, was taken by the angels to Abraham\u2019s\u00a0<strong>bosom<\/strong>. In the above statements, we make mention of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">members or parts of the body<\/span> such as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">head<\/span>, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">hand<\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">bosom<\/span> (chest, breast, bust or heart), but do they actually refer to body parts in the context in which the scriptures use them? Or are they ways of expressing certain deeper spiritual meanings and realities\u2014since God himself is Spirit and lives in the spirit realm?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">The best way of answering the question is not to use ordinary dictionaries or even bible dictionaries or commentaries because they will not consider the specific context in which the phrase was used. It is better to allow the Holy Scriptures themselves to define what it means. I find that the Bible is the best dictionary and commentary on itself. To illuminate what \u201c<em>right hand<\/em>\u201d refers to in scripture, we shall consult other scriptures in the Old Covenant and the New Testament.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">But first, let us look at one of the scriptures that places our Lord Jesus at the right hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm 24pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; line-height: 15px; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Psa 110:1<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; line-height: 15px; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0<strong>A Psalm of David.<\/strong>\u00a0THE LORD (God) says to my Lord (the Messiah), Sit at My <strong>right hand<\/strong>, until I make Your adversaries Your footstool. First, let us define a firstborn from scripture because Jesus, according to scripture, is God\u2019s firstborn son. Before the cross, He was referred to as God\u2019s \u201c\u2026 only begotten Son\u201d (Joh 3:16); however, after his great victory over death, hell and the Dragon, otherwise known as Devil or Satan, he is referred to as \u201cthe firstborn among many brethren.\u201d (Rom 8:29), and \u201cthe firstborn from the dead\u201d (Col 1:18). \u201cRight hand\u201d is reserved for the firstborn. Put differently, the firstborn is given the place of the right hand by the father. What does firstborn symbolize? If we can answer this, we will know why the firstborn has this place and what \u201cright hand\u201d means.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">WHO IS THE FIRSTBORN?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Gen 49:3<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(KJV)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0Reuben, thou\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">art<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0my firstborn,\u00a0<strong>my might<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>the beginning of my strength<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>the excellency of dignity<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>the excellency of power<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Deu 21:17<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(KJV)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">for<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0the firstborn, by giving him a\u00a0<strong>double portion<\/strong>\u00a0of all that he hath: for he\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">is<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0<strong>the beginning of his strength<\/strong>;\u00a0<u>the right<\/u>\u00a0of the firstborn\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">is<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0his.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Psa 105:36<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(KJV)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">The firstborn, in reference to their father, represents:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">the might of their Father<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">the beginning of their Father\u2019s strength (the chief of all His strength)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">the excellency of their Father\u2019s dignity<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">the excellency of the Father\u2019s power<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">The right of the firstborn is <strong>a double portion of all that the Father has<\/strong>. Now do these apply to Jesus Christ our Lord as firstborn?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Col 1:18<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(KJV)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0And he is the head of the body, the church: who is\u00a0<strong>the beginning<\/strong>, the firstborn from the dead; that in all\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">things<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0<strong>he might have the preeminence<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Col 1:18<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0He also is the Head of [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">His<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">] body, the church; seeing He is\u00a0<strong>the Beginning<\/strong>, the Firstborn from among the dead, so that He alone in everything\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">and<\/span><\/em>\u00a0in every respect\u00a0<strong>might occupy the chief place<\/strong>\u00a0[<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">stand first and be preeminent<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">].<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">SIGNIFICANCE OF RIGHT HAND<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">The position of the right hand belongs to the firstborn, and this is clearly seen in the verses below:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Gen 48:13-20<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(KJV)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; color: black;\">\u00a0And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his <strong>right hand<\/strong> toward Israel&#8217;s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel&#8217;s <strong>right hand<\/strong>, and brought\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0And Israel\u00a0<strong>stretched out his right hand, and laid\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><strong><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">it<\/span><\/em><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0upon Ephraim&#8217;s head<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">, who\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">was<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh&#8217;s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">was<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0the firstborn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: initial; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">17<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0And when Joseph\u00a0<strong>saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him<\/strong>: and he held up his father&#8217;s hand, to remove it from Ephraim&#8217;s head unto Manasseh&#8217;s head.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 36pt; color: #238554;\">20<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; color: #181c2a;\">Joseph had two sons\u2014the firstborn being\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">Manasseh<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0v14 and the second being Ephraim. Israel stretched his right hand, put it on the second-born grandson, and laid the left on the firstborn. His son Joseph saw this and tried to correct his Dad because he knew the significance of the right hand and how it was reserved for the firstborn v18. But his father refused and said, \u201chis younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 24pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">We learn from this story that\u00a0<strong>the right hand is for the firstborn<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><u>is the position of greatness and blessing<\/u><\/strong>. V7 reaffirms that it\u2019s\u00a0<strong>the position of greatness of majesty<\/strong>.
