That means knowledge of the scriptures are able to instruct you and give you the understanding that produces salvation for you. Salvation here is G4991 s\u014dt\u0113ria, and it means \u201cpreservation from danger or destruction, deliverance, rescue or safety (physically or morally), and health\u201d. The word brings you s\u014dt\u0113ria or deliverance from the molestation of enemies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 0px; line-height: 150%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">Knowledge of the word, as per Apostle Peter, is the avenue by which mere men get to put aside the old nature and put on a new nature\u2014having a participation in the God Kind.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; margin-bottom: 10.0pt;\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 0px; line-height: 125%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">reproof and conviction of sin so we do not end up messing up our lives.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 0px; line-height: 125%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">correction of error and discipline in obedience<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 0px; line-height: 125%; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">training or instruction in righteousness<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 0px; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">If these scriptures be true and the word of God is able to change my life this much, then what ought to be our disposition towards listening to and studying the word of God?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">DISPOSITION\/ATTITUDE TOWARDS GOD\u2019S WORD<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">First, the person must have a teachable spirit instead of a critical spirit. They must be attentive, making sure they have put away all distracting elements before sitting down to listen to or study God\u2019s word. This is one way we accord God respect and honour. If we were in the presence of a president or king of a nation, we would give them our maximum attention. How much more when we are interacting with God or his emissaries? The Psalmist stated:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Psa 62:11<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0God has\u00a0<strong>spoken once, twice have I heard<\/strong>\u00a0this: that power belongs to God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">God spoke only once, but the psalmist was so attentive he heard twice. It matters how we hear because faith for executing what we hear \u201c\u2026 comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God\u201d (Rom 10:17, NKJV).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">Yet still, in the book of Acts, we learn of two groups of Christians, and the author encourages us to adopt the disposition of the believers in Berea and not that of the believers in Thessalonica.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Act 17:11<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(KJV)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0These were\u00a0<u>more noble<\/u>\u00a0than those in Thessalonica, in that they\u00a0<strong>received the word with all readiness of mind<\/strong>, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Act 17:11<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0Now these [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">Jews<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">] were better disposed\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">and<\/span><\/em>\u00a0more noble than those in Thessalonica, for they\u00a0<strong>were entirely ready\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">and<\/span><\/em>\u00a0accepted\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">and<\/span><\/em>\u00a0welcomed the message<\/strong>\u00a0[<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">concerning the attainment through Christ of eternal salvation in the kingdom of God<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">]\u00a0<strong>with inclination of mind\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">and<\/span><\/em>\u00a0eagerness<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>searching\u00a0<em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">and<\/span><\/em>\u00a0examining the Scriptures daily<\/strong>\u00a0to see if these things were so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">The scriptural model for anyone listening to or studying the Word of God being taught is:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\">\n<li style=\"line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 0px; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">To be\u00a0<strong>entirely ready<\/strong>\u00a0for the word,\u00a0<strong>accept<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>welcome<\/strong>\u00a0the message taught with<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\">\n<li style=\"list-style: none; line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 0px; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\">\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\">\n<li style=\"line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 0px; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">inclination of mind<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 0px; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">and eagerness<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\">\n<li style=\"line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0cm 0px; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">Set time aside to search and examine the Scriptures DAILY to see if what you are taught is truly so<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"margin: 10pt 0cm; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">Personal study is thus critical to spiritual growth and arriving at the truth of any matter taught.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">Pro 14:6<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(AMPC)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0A scoffer seeks Wisdom in vain [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">for his very attitude blinds and deafens him to it<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">], but knowledge is easy to him who [<\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #757575;\">being teachable<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">] understands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">Here we learn about the disposition of being teachable. Not everyone has that disposition, but one can cultivate it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">Webster\u2019s 1828 Dictionary defines teachable as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">TE&#8217;ACHABLE, a. That may be taught; apt to learn; also, readily receiving instruction; docile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">We ought to bring our minds free, unbiased and teachable, to learn our religion from the word of God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">No wonder the Bereans were commended as opposed to the Thessalonians for the readiness to receive instruction or teaching. The scriptures say they were entirely ready and accepted and welcomed the message with inclination of mind and eagerness, searching and examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so. This is the attribute of teachableness.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue';\">THE WORD IS YOUR LIFE\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt 36pt; font-size: medium; font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: #238554;\">2Ti 3:7<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"font-size: 9pt; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0(KJV)<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue'; color: black;\">\u00a0Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt; font-size: medium; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400; text-align: start; white-space: normal; line-height: 20px;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light';\">Scripture says there are those who are ever learning and never able to come to the intimate and complete knowledge of the truth. You may meet a Christian who is always learning, but his life does not reflect the glory of a life beautified by the riches of God\u2019s word. Why is this so? There are many reasons for this.
