What is the Word of GOD? It is believed in some Christian circles that the scriptures are the Word of GOD. This is not true. John 1:1 shows us that the Word of GOD is GOD himself. Jesus is GOD’s Word and He and the Father are one and neither of them is\/are the scriptures? What then are the scriptures according to Jesus’ own words? Jesus said:
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Joh 5:39 KJV<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The scriptures testify or bear witness to the Word of GOD. They are not the Word. The Word of GOD is a spirit called GOD. The scriptures tell the story of the Word of GOD and reveal to its readers the nature and ways of the Word of GOD.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

But how can GOD be His Word? It is very simple. We live in a world where folks are not one with their word so it is difficult for some to believe that GOD and His Word (which is spirit and life Jn 6:63) are ONE. This oneness is the reason why there is no shadow of turning in GOD. He is absolute truth and life. The day GOD lies or the day he stops being ONE with His Word is the day all of creation will unravel and collapse. That is the day GOD will cease being GOD. That day has never come because truth is his nature\u2014and likewise should be that of all those who call themselves His offspring.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Characteristics of the Word of GOD<\/span><\/h3>\n

The following are other characteristics of the Word of GOD as attested to by scripture:
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is Spirit and Life (John 6:63)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is PURE (Proverbs 30:5)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is a seed that is ever living and cannot be corrupted (Luke 8:11; 1Peter 1:23)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD grows mightily, increases and prevails (Acts 6:7; Acts 12:24; Act 19:20)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD comes to individuals (1 Kings 12:22; 1Chronicles 17:3′ Luke 3:2; John 10:35)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is to be received (Acts 8:14; Acts 11:1; 1Thessalonians 2:13)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Reception of the Word of GOD leads to eternal life or Zoe (Acts 13:46)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The WORD of GOD is spiritual food. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:4)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The WORD of GOD is to be preached (Acts 13:5; Acts 17:13)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The WORD of GOD is to be taught (Acts 18:11)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Only those who hear the Word of God, and do it qualify as Jesus’ mother and brethren i.e. his family (Luke 8:21)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The blessing of GOD rests upon those that hear the Word of God, and keep it (Luke 11:28)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is meant to be spoken of not only by the scriptures but by spirit filled believers with boldness (Acts 4:31)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of GOD (Rom 10:17)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The WORD of GOD is the Sword of the Spirit (Heb 4:12; Eph 6:17)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is active, quick, powerful, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow (Heb 4:12)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Heb 4:12)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is to be fulfilled (Colossians 1:25)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD works effectually in those who believe in HIM (1Thessalonians 2:13)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD sanctifies (1Timothy 4:5)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of God is not and cannot ever be bound (2Ti 2:9)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD is GOOD and can be tasted or experienced (Hebrews 6:5)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD framed the worlds (Hebrews 11:3; 2 Peter 3:5; 1 John 1:1-3)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The Word of GOD frames the seen out of the unseen (Hebrews 11:3)
\n<\/span><\/p>\n
