I wrote it in disagreement with all the <\/span><a style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: 12pt;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/node\/333429\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">negative prognostication<\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: medium;\"> of certain media outlets with regards to Africa, going to the extent of condemning Africa as a <\/span><a style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: 12pt;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/printedition\/2000-05-13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hopeless continent<\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: medium;\">. I wrote &#8216;Hopeful Africa&#8217; last year, as a sort of response to the negative media about the continent. Following the publication of Hopeless Africa, the same Economist has come out with a new article titled&#8230;you guessed it\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42 &#8230; <\/span><a style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: 12pt;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/news\/special-report\/21572377-african-lives-have-already-greatly-improved-over-past-decade-says-oliver-august\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A hopeful continent<\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: medium;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: medium;\">Africa is really a hopeful continent with wonderful people who need to take charge of their destiny via forward-moving, homegrown policies that have its people at the heart. Much progress has been made already and much more is needed to raise the human development level of the ordinary African. That said, the Africa of today is drastically different from that of yesterday which was riddled with senseless conflicts in every corner. Corruption and impunity is also on the decline in many quarters. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: medium;\">There are many reasons for this hopefulness.
